T-Mobile G1 Bluetooth Compatibility

These days, whenever a new bluetooth enabled device such as the G1 phone is released, you just never quite know what’s going to be bluetooth compatible and what isn’t. You’d think everything would work in perfect harmony, because bluetooth is pretty advanced, but sadly, that just isn’t the case.

After doing some research and reading through forums, blogs, and other sources of G1 phone information, I found a list of devices that are 100% bluetooth compatible with the G1 phone. This list will obviously grow, but the gadgets you’ll see below are pretty popular ones, and as time goes on, I’m sure reports will come in about the lesser known devices.

Anyway, for now, here is a confirmed list of bluetooth compatible devices that work with the T-Mobile G1:

Bluetooth headsets:

Plantronics voyager 520 – (but no volume control)
Plantronics voyager 220
Motorola Stereo (S9) headset – Partial (works for phone functions but not music due to lack of 2.0 full API)
Jabra JX10 headset
Motorola H700
Plantronics Explorer 340
Plantronics 320

Automobile bluetooth:

Pioneer AVIC-D3 Nav system – (but contacts are not syncing to show on Caller ID)
MINI Cooper, 2007 factory system
– Partial (Pairs OK, address book sync works sometimes audio does not switch to the car’s sound system)
Parrot evo 3k (parrot 5.11c) car kit – Works (Need to use the G1 to dial though)
2004 Acura TL – everything appears to work
Garmin NUVI 360 – perfect
2008 Honda Odyssey
– perfect

This compatibility list will obviously be updated on a regular basis, so if you have anything to add, by all means, please leave it in the comments below or you can contact us as well. We want to make every effort to update this with as much information as possible, and your help would be great!

i managed to connect my sony vaio laptop to my new g1 via bluetooth, but it thinks the laptop is a headset and will not allow it to do anything. doh! hopefully they will soon update the g1 bluetooth functionality, because it really doesn’t do squat. (it would be really sweet if you could do everything that you can do with USB via bluetooth…)

I’m so anoyed, 5 years ago id refuse to buy a phone that couldn’t send files via bluetooth this has never been a problem since even on 10 pound phones. How the hell does a company sell a phone in 2009 that can’t do this simple funtion. Let alone one that retails aat 400 pounds. I have to say I’m very disapointed leaves the phone almost unuseable.

I’m really upset about the lack of file push too. Ended up emailing my photos to myself in a state of great annoyance. Hopefully they will update the Bluetooth soon.

Actually now you can go to jesus freak and get the newest update and op system which will let you tether your G1 for use as a modem whith your laptop. What a pain in the arse you know. I have had it with my G1. I just wanted to hear my music with my s9 and push a button and say call home.
I cant do either. What a dinosaur. A brick phone would have sufficed. Now of cours Im out one upgrade and 2bills.
Load of crap if you ask me. And where is the flash player for this Many phones have this capability and have had for a few years….

    Sad G1 owner

Will the g1 be able to pair up with new samsung behold anytime soon?

I got rid of my wing to get the g1. The only thing I’m really disappointed with is that it doesn’t support file transfer over bluetooth. For the amount of money that they charge for this phone, it should have that. Some of the simplest phones on the market have the file transfer. I seriously hope this is something that they are working on since there is a large demand for it.

The Voice Commands thruogh a bluetooth device do not work with the G1. You have to use the G1 to make a phone call out. You can answer from the bluetooth device. THANKS HTC.
