G1 Compared To Apple iPhone

Many people think that all smartphones are the same, and especially since there are so many out there to choose from. The G1 can be seen as an “Apple iPhone copy”, but there are various differences between both phones, so I have compiled a list of benefits that the G1 has over its Apple competitor…

Keyboard. The G1 includes a flip-out keyboard which is more suited for texters with the usability of their thumbs. This makes letter input into the G1 more user-friendly and quicker. The iPhone does not have a flip-out keyboard, but has push-screen interface which is more commonly used for finger-touch.

Camera. If you are into taking pictures on your phone, the G1 is for you as it includes a 3.2 megapixel camera. The iPhone does also include a camera, but the quality is 2.0 megapixels.

Memory. The G1 has an 1GB already installed, and also includes a slot where extra memory can be added. On the iPhone, there is not any slot of adding extra memory.

Batteries. If something happens to the battery inside the iPhone, you will have to send the whole iPhone gadget back to Apple for just the battery repair. With the G1, the battery can be self-removed from the gadget for better convenience.

Mapping. Both phones do come with Google Earth, but the advantage that the G1 has is that it includes Street View, whereas the iPhone does not.

I was also told by a friend that he couldn’t send picture messages from his iphone 3g and that u can’t forward text messages. But neither phone has a video recorder which is somewhat a let down for me but I still love my G1

    Hey all,

Just got my G1 yesterday and could not be more thrilled with it. Holy cow, it has everything but the kitchen sink…. and the ability to take video! What’s up with that? :-( Even my old Motorola V3M could take a vid clip, it was the GREEDY old carrier that charged WAY to much, forcing me to “Get It Now” every time I wanted to send or receive a clip that forced me to re-evaluate my perspective on personal communications and take a leap of faith in choosing the G1. I’m so very delighted that I did. Except for the tragic dropping of the ball on this one. I have the ability to view and upload to You Tube with my new Google branded toy but no way to take the video it’s self? Is there a third party solution?

I have bought a G1 mobile since 27th February, it is fabelous. The only problem is
That, that is is bigger than iphone with a lower memory. But from the quality it is
Really the best. You really enjoy working with it. It is not only a mobile but also
Like a small mini Laptop. It can do all the thing you need it and i really love my G1 mobile.

Man the G1 is getting better and better. With the new cupcake 1.5 update I have the option to use the keyboard or a touchscreen one in any occasion! On top of that, there’s video recording now! I’ve also noticed how the update improved on the g1′s performance. Plus the sleeky new desktop looks and many more!

Both phones Cmome with Street View… i have had them both in the sam position looking up at the Blackpool tower and surrounding streets.

with the new updates the G! is now equipt with Video recording. and has the advantage over the iphone on quality :)

i currently have the G3 (Hero) android running on my G1 (giving me more widgets and 2 extra desktops either side of the middle desktop :)
