Want Your iTunes Playlist On Your G1? No Problem.
30.01.09 # 13:31 # G1 News, G1 Updates # 6 CommentsI just recently found an interesting and effective way to get your iTunes music from your computer to your G1. Here are the steps below:
- Connect your G1 to your computer via USB.
- Create a ‘Music’ folder on your G1′s memory card. This can be named any name that you like, but something that you’ll remember where your music is stored.
- Open up iTunes on your PC. When open, select the playlist that you want on your G1 and select all the songs in your playlist (this can be done by CRTL+A).
- Drag the selected playlist to your G1. It will automatically be added to the “Devices” section on the left-hand pane when iTunes loaded.
- When this has done, right click on the playlist and select “Export Song List.” When prompted, select the XML option and export the playlist to the Desktop (or any fast, and easy place).
- Exit iTunes and download an XML playlist converter. One that I recommend can be found here.
- In the converter, where it says iTunes Song List to Convert select the XML file that you saved to your computer and click the “Convert” button.
- When the file has downloaded, you will need to rename it with an extension of .m3u, because it will not create the extension on download.
- Go to the ‘Music’ folder we created in step 2 and place the .m3u file in there.
You will now have your iTunes playlist on your G1. Please leave feedback how this worked for you.

Sounds nice but just to clear one point, the G1 can’t transfer files through bluetooth so connect through usb.
Good point alanxr. Thank you for pointing that out
I have made the change within the post.
I’m attempting to load songs from iTunes library and it’s not quite working the way you’ve indicated. I’m finding songs that are MPEG4 are going into my Music folder on the G1s SD card but it’s not appearing in the device. Thoughts on how to get this fixed???
How do I get the g1 to show up in the devices section? Maybe I missed something. All the other steps worked till I got there.
When the usb is connected you pull down the notification bar on your G1 and press mount, job done
id love to un lock my g1 but realy dont want to pay ..i hope i win
