Just recently, the WebProNews Video team headed to SMX West 09 and discussed Android possibilities for the upcoming future with it being open source, which also encompasses the G1. With this in mind, I have provided the video below:

More WebProNews Videos

With Android emerging at the productive rate that it is, be ready for some more applications heading your way towards your G1 that help network and enhance your Android/G1 experience. Also, it is predicted that after 2010, it will be easier to get an Android phone (like the G1) rather than an iPhone.

On this premise, it would be great to see the G1 (or any Android-based phone) take over the whole iPhone market.

This application package recommends software to you from the Android Marketplace that would best suit you.

Some of the most recommended software that ‘AppPack’ suggests are:

Mobile Backup – Ever fear that you will lose or damage your phone, and also lose all of the contacts within your phone? Fear no more, because this app uploads all of the information of your contacts on a remote, safe server hosted by T-Mobile.

My Account – As discussed in my post of this app. My Account lets you view stats of your account with T-Mobile such as your activity, bill summary, etc.

Sherpa – This application presents users with locally-relevant business information, such as places to eat, banks, and tourist attractions. Over time, Sherpa will also recommend new places to you as they become available. This is a great app if you are traveling or new to a specific area.

The ‘AppPack’ is available from the T-Mobile Android Applications Store, and is a great way to get involved with your G1. Any readers that have experienced the ‘AppPack,’ please leave your feedback below.

Other features that the v2 version will include are: the absence of the chin that the current G1 has, making the design look more post-modern to compete with the iPhone look, and also a 5 megapixel camera!

The G1 v2 will be available from WalMart in October priced as $148 (with two year agreement).

What are your thoughts on the v2?

If so, I would like to introduce a program that will prevent this from happening called Textecution.

How Textecution Works
The way that Textecution can prevent you from texting while driving is by using the G1′s motion detection capability. Whenever the car is moving faster than 10 miles per hour, a message will appear on any of the G1′s texting applications stating that “You Are Moving Too Fast To Use This Application”, and not allow the user access to the specific texting application.

This is also a great application to install if you have teenagers that use G1s!

How To Get Textecution:
You can download it straight from Textecution’s main site.

What a great application to prevent a growing trend among the driving community!

According to Gizmodo, the G1 finally made an appearance on the new series of 90120 on the CW network. This is good news for G1 owners who have felt that the iPhone has had way too much exposure on TV.
This could also be used as a marketing/advertising move to the younger generation, and saying that Android phones are in!

I just recently found an interesting and effective way to get your iTunes music from your computer to your G1. Here are the steps below:

Connect your G1 to your computer via USB.

Create a ‘Music’ folder on your G1′s memory card. This can be named any name that you like, but something that you’ll remember where your music is stored.

Open up iTunes on your PC. When open, select the playlist that you want on your G1 and select all the songs in your playlist (this can be done by CRTL+A).

Drag the selected playlist to your G1. It will automatically be added to the “Devices” section on the left-hand pane when iTunes loaded.

When this has done, right click on the playlist and select “Export Song List.” When prompted, select the XML option and export the playlist to the Desktop (or any fast, and easy place).

Exit iTunes and download an XML playlist converter. One that I recommend can be found here.

In the converter, where it says iTunes Song List to Convert select the XML file that you saved to your computer and click the “Convert” button.

When the file has downloaded, you will need to rename it with an extension of .m3u, because it will not create the extension on download.

Go to the ‘Music’ folder we created in step 2 and place the .m3u file in there.

You will now have your iTunes playlist on your G1. Please leave feedback how this worked for you.
